MASJID BIRU (disebut juga sebagai Sultan Ahmet Camii di Turki) adalah masjid yang bersejarah di Istanbul. Masjid ini

dikenali sebagai Masjid Biru kerana jubin biru yang mengelilingi dinding hiasan dalaman. Masjid ini dibina antara tahun 1609 dan tahun 1616, pada masa pemerintahan Ahmed I. Seperti juga kebanyakan masjid lain, ia juga mempunyai makam pengasas, sebuah madrasah. Selain daripada itu, ianya masih digunakan sebagai masjid. Masjid Sultan Ahmed juga telah menjadi tarikan pelancong yang popular di Istanbul.

Selain daripada menjadi daya tarikan pelancong, ia juga adalah sebuah masjid yang aktif, jadi ianya akan ditutup kepada bukan jamaah untuk setengah jam atau lebih dalam masa sholat lima waktu.

The BLUE MOSQUE (called Sultan Ahmet Camii in Turkish) is an historical mosque in Istanbul. The mosque is known as the Blue Mosque because of blue tiles surrounding the walls of interior design.Mosque was built between 1609 and 1616 years, during the rule of Ahmed I. just like many other mosques, it also comprises a tomb of the founder, a madrasa and a hospice.Besides still used as a mosque, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque has also become a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul.

Besides being tourist attraction, it’s also a active mosque, so it’s closed to non worshippers for a half hour or so during the five daily prayers.

In Turkey, it is an important tradition to offer Cologne during guest visits, on bus trips and in restaurants. Its offering during holiday family gatherings and on funeral days has also become somewhat of a ritual. If you should visit a Turkish house, the first thing that you will be offered is Cologne and candy. This is meant to refresh a guest who is just off a trip and to help eliminate the germs that the outdoor conditions leave on hands. The candy that is offered along with the Cologne, represents the Turkish belief that a sweetened mouth will ensure the start of a sweet conversation.

Majlis Whirling Dervishes di Istanbul, konsert Sufi muzik dan tarian darwis. Nama Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi singkatan Cinta dan kegembiraan penerbangan yang tidak terhingga. Rumi adalah salah seorang guru kerohanian yang ternama dan ahli puisi yang cerdik dan merupakan pengasas Mevlevi Sufi, persaudaraan mistik terkemuka Islam.

Mevleviye terkenal dengan tarian berputar dan darwis. Pada upacara tarian mereka, atau Sema, himpunan muzik tertentu yang disebut ayin dimainkan. Upacara Sema melambangkan perjalanan mistik menaikan spiritual manusia melalui pikiran dan cinta yang sempurna. Tarian ini merupakan satu lagi Keunikan Turki.

The name Mevlana Celaleddin-i Rumi stands for Love and ecstatic flight into the infinite. Rumi is one of the great spiritual masters and poetical geniuses of mankind and was the founder of the Mevlevi Sufi order, a leading mystical brotherhood of Islam.

Mevleviye are known for their famous practice of whirling dances and dervishes. At their dancing ceremonies, or Sema, a particular musical repertoire called ayin is played. The Sema ceremony represents a mystical journey of man’s spiritual ascent through mind and love to Perfect.

ISTANBUL TULIP FESTIVAL

Ramai orang tidak mengetahui bahawa bunga tulip berasal dari Turki. Turki menjadi tuan rumah kepada Festival Tulip yang pertama di dunia lebih dari 400 tahun yang lalu, dan kecintaan pada Tulip dan tradisi masih kuat di Victoria hari ini. Hujung minggu merupakan hari Pesta Bunga Tulip di Turki. Dengan lebih dari 100 pemain, ia adalah hujung minggu yang berwarna-warni dan menarik.

Tulip mula berkembang sekitar akhir Mac atau awal April, bergantung kepada cuaca. Tulip akan mekar selama beberapa minggu dan boleh menyegarkan mata yang memandang dan menaikkan semangat selama hampir satu bulan.

Many people don’t realise that the tulip originated in Turkey. Turkey hosted the world’s first Tulip Festival more than 400 years ago, and the love for the Tulip and the tradition is still strong in Victoria today. The Tesselaar Tulip Festival Turkish Weekend is a showcase of Turkish culture. With more than 100 performers, it is a colourful and exciting weekend.

The tulips begin to bloom around the end of March or beginning of April, depending on the weather. They bloom for several weeks and may delight the eye and the spirit for nearly a month.

Henna Night (Kina Gecesi):

The ceremony held one day before the wedding in the home of bride and groom is called the henna night. It generally takes place at the girl’s home and among the women.

The women who gather in the girl’s home on the henna night have fun for a while, but later try to make her cry by singing sad songs. Henna that has earlier kneaded with water is brought in on a tray surrounded by candles and placed in the middle of the room. In some places, the henna is first put on the hands of the bride and then distributed to the guests; the other areas the henna is first distributed to the guests, and only after everybody has left it is placed on the bride’s hands. If the woman so wishes, henna can also be placed on her feet apply to the hair.

Considerable attention is paid to charging a woman with a happy marriage, called the “başı bütün” (meaning “whose head is complete”, In a sense, this describes her as someone who has a complete family with husband and children and whose marriage is whole, not separated by divorce) to knead and distribute the henna and apply it to the girl’s hand. The woman places the henna on one of the bride’s hands, and a young girl places it on the other. Before the henna is applied, coins or gold are also placed in her hands.

WRESTLING FESTIVAL

The Kırkpınar oil wrestling festival takes place in Edirne, Turkey. Thousands of people from different age groups, cultures and regions travel every year to see Pehlivan (wrestlers) fight for the Kırkpınar Golden Belt and the title of Chief Pehlivan. Each festival is launched by its patron, the Kırkpınar Aga, in a ceremony featuring forty bands of davul drums and zurna shawms. The golden belt is carried through the city in a procession, followed by prayers recited in the Selimiye Mosque.

The wrestling bouts customarily take place at the Men’s Field. The master of ceremonies introduces the Pehlivans to the audience, reciting in verse their names, titles and skills. Next, the oil man oils the wrestlers assisted by the towel holder, before the warm-up exercises and greetings. The wrestlers each wear kıspet, thick trousers made of water buffalo or cow leather. As the wrestling takes place, the drum and shawm bands play the traditional repertoire of the festival. Kırkpınar oil wrestling is open to men from all cultures, regions and ages without discrimination between religion, language or race.

Pehlivans are considered exemplary figures in society with attributes such as generosity, honesty, respectfulness and adherence to traditions and customs. All Pehlivans are trained in the master-apprentice tradition.
